Flickr File Size

A really good question came up yesterday about the file size that Flickr will allow to be uploaded. A quick Flickr site search leaves me with more questions than answers. Their support center states that uploads should be 10 minutes in length or 1 giga-byte in size. This is the same information that we gave in the handbook. The link to their page is:

Now the contradiction… A search of their site does show some videos that far exceed these limitations. Some more recent ones, such as Obama Taking on Education (3 weeks ago and 33 minutes in length), show an internal error message when selected. So, while I don’t have a definitive answer, my guess is that You Tube is trying to enforce their file size rule.  In any case, if you do want to post longer videos to You Tube, break them up into segments of 10 minutes or less.
